"New to this forum but definitely up for this league, would prefer 50%, but up for the 100% if more people prefer the full distance."

I agree with Coyote in regards to the 50-100% race length for the F1 events, if we are going to do one location per event that is. Practice time, Qualifying sessions and the actual race will make for an excellent well rounded event every time out.
Any other comments or suggestions are very welcome!
Let's hear from everyone involved guys, what do you think?

Actually looking forward to this. One question though: Will the organisers be doing a random draw for those who haven't got teams?

We will pair up drivers if they have not got a team mate. You can ask someone to be your team mate before the championship starts - also the cars will be given out with a random draw. The cars will be set to equal to keep things as close as possible.

As a idea, would anyone like a practice race day before the event starts, so we can get to know each other and used to racing together?

I would love a practice session, how about next Sunday Oct, 9th at 3pm (UK TIME) ?

All races will include qualifying with 20% race length on 3 different tracks.

Sign up for that day:

I was wondering whether anyone who IS going to be using traction control could post some of their best times up for Melbourne just because I want to know whether I will still be competitive with no traction control and perhaps consider changing to medium. I have to say I much prefer using it without traction because it just feels right.

I understand what you mean. I run all forza races with no traction, but I do find it difficult on F1. I have times in the Williams car in my career at a 1:25.3 I believe and with cars set to equal about a 1:24.1 ( i think ) in a Mercedes.

There is a pre-season race on sunday the 9th at 3pm UK time so if you join us there u can always work out which option is better.

Thank you for joining us.

BTW all times posted are on prime tires

That is so quick! I might have to reconsider. One thing is for sure though: I probably won't be on the front row if times are being posted like that! I only got f12011 a short while ago so lets hope i can get close to that time.

During qualifying and the race i only managed to run 22's and 23's. so i wouldn't worry too much, I would say traction control used correctly on F1 2011 saves anybody at the most .7 seconds a lap. because of how much it restricts your power in high speed corners.

i also think this event has a big range of drivers from experienced drivers to brand new starters. after the little bits of testing and driving with a few of the members taking part in this event i think we are all going to have so much fun in this event regardless of the position in which we are fighting for Smile

i hope to see you on sunday for the test run.. speak soon

I think you are right around the .7 secs and also, i believe anyway, that there are more overtaking opportunities without traction. I'll just get practising then. I should be able to be around for sunday.

P.s Its great you are organising this. I played F1 online last year about five times and then got so annoyed that people would ram of the track on a corner or, the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen, they waited horizontally at the pit exit!

You might find people are less likely to make a big mistake with traction control on, but I would think it makes it easier to overtake. The reason i say that is because without traction its easier to be pressured into gunning it too early. Say for example your in second, third is very close behind and 1st makes a mistake and gets a little sideways. Your under so much pressure to gun it that you get a little sideways also, then 3rd sees his chance to get into first and does exactly the same lol. In the end no one changes position.

With traction control on its so easy to capitalize on anyones mistake that pressure will still cause you to break late or take to much curb and from my experience, not just one F1 but on Forza 3 also traction will allow for slightly more overtakes and less race ending mistakes.

Also, thank you very much, that is the exact reason we do what we do, because there are too many 13 year old boys or people with the same mental capacity as a 13yo boy playing online gaming to get a serious race without going to these extremes.

see you on the track soon.

I am also going to change the Time of the event to 6pm so that it does not conflict with the Real F1 series
