This was quite a good race overall, the GT battle at the end was especially exciting. And I loved the Pescarolo Dome - good looking and quite quick.

So what do you guys think about what Le Mans will be like? I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict the Toyota to be faster than the Audis. The Quattro seems to have an inherent balance issue and understeer problem due to the four-wheel drive, especially at the end of the tire stints. The tires also seemed to go off far quicker on the Quattro (the #2 car really seemed to have trouble in the last half-hour or so).

The Toyota puts the hybrid power down at the rear, so they shouldn't have those balance issues at the front; I'm thinking that they may not be blowing smoke when they say they'll be fast. However, if it rains, ignore everything I just said - it will be all Quattro.

Actually looks to be an interesting race shaping up, even without Peugeot. My prediction is that it will be the R18 Ultra vs. the Toyotas.

The only problem i see with the Toyota's is there lack of races. As proved with Audi a few years back with the R15, they didnt race they just tested, when it came to the 24h Peugeot left them for dead. Also the rummers are that the reason they didn't race at Spa was to do with them having to redesign the car.

I think if it came down to a fight between the R18 Ultras and Quattros, it would be a massive PR boost if Audi had the first ever hybrid Le Mans winner. Don't be surprised if the Ultras were told to move over. Audi have done it before.

Yeah, I completely agree with you to be honest. I expect the Ultras and the Toyotas to be the fastest on pace, but Toyota's reliability could be terrible for all we know, since they've never done a race yet.

And I think you were right about Toyota redesigning their car, because the pics of the new car with the E-Tron at Spa show a completely different TS030 compared to the one first tested (and the new aero is quite a bit more R18-esque).
